Wooden Horse Year
26 December, 2013
Exclusive Interview with astrologist Mikheil Tsagareli

Astrology has been popular since the early 1990s in Georgia. It was good fun in those hard times. However, specialists assign more importance to it, and some people find that their horoscopes may correspond to personal traits or intellectual inclinations. So, Georgian Journal interviewed the country’s leading astrologist, Mikheil Tsagareli, to learn what might be expected from 2014.
G.J: First of all, let me ask about politics. Nowadays internal politics are controversial. What are the trends for the New Year?
M.T: The year of 2014 will be connected with change in the social and political arenas. In the latter, it is possible that new leaders and ideas will appear. These processes will be active particularly in the first part of the year, when Jupiter is under cancer’s zodiac. Then it falls under Leo and thus, the second part will be much calmer. In the first part of the year, the probability of natural as well as technological disasters is high. However, reforms will be proceeded with in the second part too, on the socio-political level.
G.J: What about the months in particular?
M.T: January, February and March are quite positive periods. However, the beginning of January and March 1-10 are rather tense. It is wise to refrain from investing money as these are the times for changes. However, April, May and June are most tensed months of the year, mainly April 10-20, connected with the disharmony of Cosmos. This is the period of car accidents, conflicts, confrontations, as well as the probability for political and economic crisis. August is calmer. However, the best month of the coming year is October. This is a period of good health, as well as success in careers, marriages and travelling.
G.J: Isn’t the year of 2014 a Horse’s year.
M.T: This is right. This is the wooden horse that will arrive on the 31st of January. It belongs to Ian (active) energy. In the east, the year is connected with positive and abrupt changes, as its dynamics correspond with its host – an impulsive, proud, good-looking, fast horse who cannot stand any restrictions. This is a good year for sport activities, contacts, creativity, social activities, charity, adventures, for starting a new business. A must is to believe, in order to reach success. The year is also connected with lies; therefore, listen to words but do not rush to believe them on first hearing. This is a year favorable for friendly as well as business relations. This is a good year in the intellectual sphere – science, journalism, and writing. However, it will also provoke disputes. The horse is independent, as well assiduous and ambitious and these traits will be in the spotlight. The horse is fond of big events, where it will have a chance to clearly show his abilities, including eloquence. The horse backs those people who have a strong commitment. The horse is passionate and daring, so he supports romantic affairs, as well as political activities and artistry. However, it is rather unstable and thus can abruptly lose enthusiasm. The horse loves itself, and therefore he is claimed to be an egoist. This year demands from human beings the harmonization of labor, rest and love affairs. You have to be actively involved in society. You have to take care of your looks as well. The year will be sometimes unpredictable, but fruitful. As for the fiscal sphere, it demands precautions and thrift. This is the year of progress either on the spiritual, professional or creative level. This is a positive year for love affairs and marriages; however, friendly ties will have to endure a cosmic examination. The strong desire to change something is inevitable in each of us.
People will be in general be more in love with liberty than earlier. The horse’s energy is symbolically connected with fire. Try to merge your experience and knowledge with your intuition. This year, controlling one’s emotions is rather hard, but necessary, demanded by one of its hosts, planet Saturn. The latter demands from us: moderation, restraint, patience, self-discipline – these are the traits that will help us achieve the goals that we had in previous years in a very short period of time, and effectively. It is necessary to establish the grounds for new dynamic relations with business partners, as well as other contacts that must be further deepened and developed in the second part of the year. Fortune is variable, but if you follow intuition and are flexible enough to make a timely change, there will be a lot of happy possibilities. The beginning of the year is more tensed as mentioned and therefore we need to be more prudent and diplomatic in the office, as in our private life.
As for health: liver, gall-bladder and stomach are the most vulnerable organs this year. Therefore, it is of utmost importance to get healthy food, especially in the first part of the year. This is the period for more sleep than usual, more relaxation and physical exercises, as well as dancing and singing. The tendency to gain weight is high; therefore, eat less pastry, salty and smoked fish, and fried meat. In autumn, bear in mind to take care of your cardio-vascular system. Do not be overloaded with work; be more inclined to rest.
Unless balance and moderation are preserved, Fire (Ian) energy will burn wood – the host of the year - which will only be harmful. However, if balance is there, stability is guaranteed between your virtues and vices.
G.J: There are rituals on how to meet the New Year. How shall we meet this year of the Wooden Horse?
M.T: It is better if we meet it in the company of many others, as cheerfully as possible, in a place where there is space for games and dances. The horse is fond of running. If we meet the New Year at home, we should at least meet it in the biggest room. It is advised to meet it with friends, relatives, family members, and especially with children. The last day of this year, 31 December, is a day of the negative energy - this energy can be overshadowed by children’s laughter and playing. Decorate the Christmas tree so that it does not make obstacles for dancing. In the Christmas tree toys, privilege must be given to: green, golden and yellow tones, and rarely – to red. Since one of the managers and hosts is wood, it is good to have as many wooden things, at least on the festive table, as possible. Wood is a protective element for a horse; therefore it is very good if you include something wooden in your accessories that will serve as your amulet. In the garments, green, then brown, then beige, then cream-like and golden tones as well as red, in rare cases (mainly, in accessories), are suggested. Wooden furniture is also good for a fortunate year. It is good to focus more on salads, fruits, and vegetables in our menu, mainly green-colored. Kiwi in this respect is very good. The table must also be represented by fish and meat, but not horse meat (Georgians do not eat it anyway!) The traditional dishes for New Year: Satsivi (walnut sauce with a chicken or turkey in it), Khachapuri, Gozinaki (New Year’s candy made of walnut and honey), wine, as well as a variety of cakes are important. The horse is joyous and daring, so maximally make use of various games, quizzes, humor, and competitions. The horse is fond of fireworks and air balloons as well. As the element of luck this year is connected with water, it is good to fill a jar or a jug with it, put some coins into it and put it on the table to attract money energy. As the Horse’s year is connected with changes, change something on the 31st of December – either buy new clothes, or at least meet the New Year with a new haircut. At the table, sparkling wines as well as mineral waters must be presented. Do not use fast food, beer or kvass. The best gift is the horseshoe and it will be good if you hang it on your door. On the table, the horse must be at the front, and the snake behind it, as until January 31 there is a snake’s year. It is good if we have a horseshoe at the table as well. Light 1, 2 or 7 candles of green or yellow color, and beg the fire to fulfill your wishes and that all sorrows are left to the previous year. Meet the New Year with lit candles. Afterwards, you may blow them out or let them burn to the very end. For minerals it is good to use olivine, emerald, green and yellow jasper, malachite – mainly green and yellow stones. Gold and silver are both topical. Happy New Year!
G.J: The same to you!
